Peter had arrived at the hotel a few days ago in full Spider-man costume. At first, he thought he'd been abducted by someone out to get Spidey. After changing out of his costume and back into regular clothing thanks to the backpack he carried everywhere, he'd figured out that wasn't the case. In fact, as far as he could tell, this had nothing to do with Spider-man at all. He'd stayed in the shadows, sneaking about and finding out what he could about the place. He knew about the doors. He knew about outside and he knew that eventually he might find a door that led back home. With that in mind, he'd been busily opening all the doors he could find to no avail. If there was a door home, he hadn't found it yet.

He had found the door to Jurassic Park. That'd been dangerous, exciting and once the novelty of dinosaurs had worn off, he'd been in a hurry to get out of there. He'd seen the film. He knew there was no way that would end well. Besides, while he knew about the doors, he wasn't sure how long the doors stayed open. That wasn't a world he wanted to get trapped in.

Fresh from Jurassic Park world, Peter Parker was skateboarding down the hallways of the hotel. Honestly, he could think of no better place to do so. However, not everyone agreed as evidenced by the grumbling that occasionally followed him.

"Sorry!" he yelled out as he narrowly (and probably spider-tastically) avoided a man carrying a load of towels down to the laundry. His apology was met with something that sounded very like 'dang kids these days'. He looked back over his shoulder at the man and when he looked forward again, he was on a collision course with someone else.

Think quick!

There are moments, here and there, in which the Doctor travels alone. He doesn't like to do it, prefers to see the wonder of seeing the universe for the first time through the eyes of a companion, but circumstances can be bit of a hefty thing and so he's alone now and that's something that has to change. He's parked the TARDIS in front of a door he's scanned deliberately for activity that leads straight to one place and one only.

(Or, well, if the TARDIS is in a bit of a mood, it could lead to somewhere else, but he does hope they're not at odds today)

Standing there with a sonic screwdriver in hand and a hopeful smile on his lips, he rests his fingers on the handle cautiously and wonders how it took him so long to get back to this. The universe and all its' alternates and in its' entirety has never stopped being magnificent and wonderful and expansive and perfect, but human beings and all the different species that have populated the universe are no less amazing and sometimes he forgets that.

The doors here are universal and endless and there's a kind of physics at work that he doesn't quite understand and that makes the Nexus Hotel one of the Doctor's favourite places in the whole universe right now.

The fact that the people here are just as incredible doesn't hurt.

"Geronimo," he whispers to himself, manic grin on his face as he opens the door so that anyone looking sees straight inside, nearly all the way to the heart of the TARDIS. He leans against the door and waits for the first person to pass by. "Fancy a trip?" he asks, loose and slack and cool as he asks, waving the sonic around as if he's scanning the atmosphere. "Anywhere you like," he says to the passing hotel staff, who barely even give him the time of day. "Future or past!" he insists, a little louder as he gets more desperate. "Anywhere!" he says to the maid who stares at him with mild disdain. "Oh, don't look at me like that, I haven't stolen any of your pillows."

"...Today," he grumbles. "All of time and space and no one wants a trip," he says, shaking his head in awe. "You!" he says, pointing down the hall to the approaching body. "Want to see my spaceship? It's bigger on the inside."

It wasn’t often that Dawn heeded Buffy’s advice, no questions asked. In fact, she oftentimes asked all the questions, whined a bit about having to do whatever it was that they had to do, and then thought of a few more questions to ask. Eventually, she almost always gave in. It was very rare that she went against the grain when it all was said and done. Her sister had gotten them through a lot. And Dawn was absolutely sure that she would get them through even more, if more came their way.

If you get lost, find a landmark and sit in one place, her sister had said. It’s easier to be found if you sit in one place, supposedly. So then why was her sister always on the move? That made no sense.

Berkeley wasn’t one of the places where she’d ever expected to take a wrong path. She loved the school. She loved the atmosphere. She loved the normalcy of it. Never mind that she had been headed to her least favorite class, Algebra II, when she had become lost. The door that she had thought led to her classroom had instead led her to what could only be described as a hotel. She’d wandered the halls for almost an hour, looking for the right door or a way out. Her efforts were fruitless.

So this was how she ended up in the lobby, sitting in the middle of the floor and holding her cell phone up to try to get a reception to call Buffy or Xander. No reception. Her nose wrinkled and she looked positively unhappy as she muttered to herself. “America’s most dependable 3G network, you are not. And I’m not sure how good I’ll be at the sitting and waiting to be found thing.”
