"It's not rude, I did live in London," MacKenzie says, laughing warmly. "My father was an ambassador so I was born in the States but I grew up with my grandparents in London for the most part. I'm from a bit of everywhere."

As much as she's tried to drop her accent, she can't, and luckily New York is a cosmopolitan enough city that she doesn't stand out there.

"It's nice to hear someone from home, though. I live in New York now."
