This is so not gonna end well

There's no way this is possible.

Isaac had been on his way to get food, like every other day, and he didn't exactly bother to check whether or not the doors were jimmy-rigged with some kind of weird crap. After all, his werewolf sense have been pretty good about telling him whether or not there's danger ahead. And yet, he hadn't seen this one coming. One minute, he's himself, then the next, everything has changed in the course of five seconds.

"Um," Isaac manages, grabbing his throat when the word comes out high, feminine, and strangled. He loosens his fingers and stares down at his loose clothes and the fact that he barely recognizes himself. Isaac grabs his face and stares in the reflection of nearby glass, realizing that he's not going crazy.

Actually, no. No, this is crazy. Crazy is wandering through a door and becoming a woman. Crazy is this and crazy is the wolf senses inside him going crazy when they don't know what to do with new hormones. He grabs at his hair, searching for a familiar face around him, because this is crazy. Isaac wanders through every damn door he can find, but nothing changes.

This is Beacon Hills level crap and this is supposed to be somewhere where he doesn't have to worry about the kind of crap. Zombies, he can cope with. Rome? Sure. An arena of things trying to kill him isn't exactly awesome, but Isaac can learn how to deal with it. Being in the hotel and turning into a girl on his way to dinner?

"If this is some random wolf crap, Derek did not give me the literature," Isaac growls, tugging at his too-loose clothes with distaste.

"Yeah, my whole life is kind of becoming a thing where I jump from one thing to another," Isaac says, grabbing long strands of hair that's getting in his face. He glances around them, grabbing Adam to haul him around the corner. "Okay, so, I need you to keep a lookout," he says. He needs to find out if he can still shift because he can feel the wolf inside of him, but doesn't know how the whole instant switch is affecting it.

"That, I can do." Adam still wanted to try and work out a spell that would get Issac back to normal, for a given sense of normal, but that would take extensive research and probably help from others - something he wasn't sure Issac was willing to participate in. Adam was of the opinion that if he'd switched genders, he would want to be left alone for as long as possible.

"How long has it been like this?"

"Like, five minutes?" Isaac guesses, the frustration feeling like it's way more than that. He hooks a hand into his jeans and shifts them. Everything still fits pretty well because it's not like Isaac had been big or bulky before, but he's a woman and he's shorter.

He digs into himself to pull out the wolf, breathing deeply. When he lifts his head, his eyes glow amber and his teeth are elongated, but the claws aren't out and his face is fairly hairless. It feels good to relinquish control, even this much, and he runs his fingertips over his fangs before he slips back to his human self, feeling some of the panic ease back.

"Okay, so, that part's still there. You sure you can't fix this?"

"I could research it," Adam said, not closing the door on it. "Ostara is a big holiday for my kind, there would be a lot of ambient power floating around. It's absolutely possible I could channel it with some kind of spell and switch you back but the rites aren't held until three days from now. Which is probably about as long as I would have to research a big spell like this. When you're dealing with magic on humans, it gets a lot more complex than making doors and summoning up waves."

Isaac runs a hand through his hair out of habit, but it doesn't run through as quickly as he wants. Instead, it takes a lot more hair before he finishes, which brings him back to freaking out about the fact that he's a woman. Girl. Whatever. "What about magic on werewolves?" he asks.

"Even more complicated," Adam said apologetically. "We don't have werewolves back home but I assume it would be similar to trying to cast something on another witch...you have your own magic."

"Right now, I have my own breasts," Isaac snaps, his patience running kind of short considering the fact that he's used to a lot of weird shit, but the nemeton didn't exactly come with a disclaimer about what kind of crap might come at him. "Oh my god, Adam, this is insane," Isaac says, hands at his temples as the panic starts to settle in with reality.

"Aside from the...obvious changes, do you feel okay? Nothing's hurt and you don't feel sick, right?"

That might remove some of the immediacy from trying to get him switched back, at least. Adam wasn't keen on performing complex magic on another human being without some time to research it first.

"My head is buzzing," Isaac admits, closing his eyes tightly and trying not to let it overwhelm him. "I don't know if me and the wolf knows what to do with the hormones," he says, breathing in sharply. "I feel kind of sick, but I know that's just anxiety."

"Just take deep breaths," Adam said, keeping his voice soft and even. The last thing he wanted to do was freak Issac out more with a situation that neither of them could control.

"I think we can probably figure something out sooner rather than later, you know? I can start working on a spell right away."

At least it's not a closed space. That's the one relief in this whole thing. If they were somewhere confined, closed, and tight, Isaac doesn't know how much control he'd keep. His panic stays with him, though, when Adam mentions later, even if it's only a possibility. "And, what, I'm supposed to just stay like this? I'm pretty sure no one warned me this was a third setting of the werewolf thing, or my alpha definitely kept it from me."

"As long as you're not sick and in pain, yeah," Adam said. "It takes time to pull off a spell like that and I don't want to make a mistake and get you stuck in a form you don't like very much."

"I don't like this form very much," Isaac bites out, his irritation starting to creep in to a degree that he feels the need to talk about it. "Adam, look at me," he insists, getting into his space. "Listen to me. You're gonna help me fix this or we're gonna find out what my claws look like as a girl."

"Yeah, we're going to fix it. I just want to make sure I'm not going to get you stuck between two genders, or stuck as a wolf all the time or stuck as something worse. Magic on humans is not something to play around with," he warned him.

"There could be really serious consequences."

It's enough for Isaac to let those emotions come out, shifting forward with one hand on Adam's neck, as though he's going to strangle him. He hasn't felt this murderous since he first became a wolf. He remembers, though, and comes back to himself before the claws come out. His eyes are wide and he gapes at his friend, feeling guilty.

"Sorry," he manages. "Sorry. I didn't mean to do that. I didn't, I promise."

Adam gasped a little, heart going fast. Maybe the next time he wanted to give Issac bad news he should have Bella as a backup. Then again, could werewolves and vampires work together? He didn't know.

"Easy, easy. We are going to get this straightened out as fast as I can without making any mistakes, okay? I just need a few days."

Eyes wild, Isaac can feel Adam's heart beating at a pace that seems to be trying to match his own. He breathes in and out as steadily as he can, rubbing his forehead and staring at the long fingers he's still not used to. "What are you supposed to do when you're suddenly a girl?" he wonders, listening to the high, plaintive tones of his voice.

"Find a date to the prom? Not that we have a prom here," Adam said, laughing uncomfortably. If they did have a prom, he would try to find a way to ask Bella to go without stammering over his words but that was neither here nor there.

"I don't know. Maybe we can ask Bella if you can borrow some clothes? That might be a good place to start."

"I'm not much of a prom guy," Isaac deadpans, because he's pretty sure his own would have some kind of monster invasion because that's how Beacon Hills works. After all, their last formal dance involved Lydia Martin nearly getting ripped to shreds by Peter Hale. So, yeah. Dances? Not exactly Isaac's wheelhouse.

He lets out a long, resigned sigh. "Who's Bella?"

"She's uh...a vampire," Adam said. His life had become some weird microcosm where his two closest friends were a werewolf and vampire respectively but it still didn't hold a candle to what life had been like back in New Salem with Black John threatening to kill them. He guessed it was all relative.

"Long brown hair, her skin kind of...sparkles?"

"Yeah, that's not weird at all," Isaac replies evenly, but he's used to weird. His whole life is pretty much an advertisement for weird. "I guess I can add vampires to my list of crazy things I've seen, now." After the darach, he kind of wanted the list to stop, but hey, he can't control it. "Okay. Lead the way, I guess."

"After you. Ladies first, after all," Adam said. Maybe it was a stupid idea to tease a guy who could turn into a werewolf and was really only temporarily a pretty girl but Adam couldn't help it. How often did these opportunities come up, anyway?

"You're an ass," Isaac informs him, matter-of-factly, but he still goes first because if he doesn't, the claws might come out again and he needs to avoid that. "Just so you know."

"Every once in a while," Adam agreed. "I know, it was pretty low of me but I just couldn't help myself."
