"Sounds like you had a whole team," Joan remarked with a smile. She had considered children of her own before dismissing the notion, mostly, but her friends were pretty active babymakers. She approached the bed, looking at the baby, and realizing as always how impossibly small they were in the beginning. She was a surgeon and rarely found herself in the maternity ward back when she was practising, but whenever she had she was always a bit overwhelmed.
