The whole affair is distinctly aside from anything Victor would imagine himself enjoying. For one, he is far more a fan of romantic poets and though Austen is a capable author in the romantic era, her stories end far too happily for Victor, who has come to expect tragedy in all his romance. He is, thus, incredibly uncomfortable finding himself in a situation that can only be Pride and Prejudice, and now there is a woman addressing him and suggesting they actively seek a war.
