cut for spoilers from Arrow season 2 finale )

As she pulls open the car door, a strange thing happens. Instead of crawling into the backseat of a car to sleep while she escapes to God knows where, she tumbles into a closet and hits her head on a doorknob. That's...weird. What else is weird is that when she tugs open the closet, she's inside what looks like a hotel lobby instead of anywhere she recognizes.

"What the hell is going on?" Thea is aware this is rhetorical and, frankly, not even a really good rhetorical question. She basically lost her skills to make witty quips along with shooting her biological father and discovering that everyone important to her in her life has lied to her so she isn't really running on all cylinders. She's running on...less than half. It's not ideal.

"Anyone?" While part of her hopes she's in Starling so she has a chance to orient herself another part of her hopes that she's not in Starling and, instead, she's somewhere that she can get a blank slate. Thea wants to be anyone but Thea Queen right now and she thinks if she's outside of her old stomping grounds, she might just have a chance to start over new again.

Though the main dining hall didn't bear the typical Valentine's Day decoration, it had been changed enough to subtly reflect the mood through small fairy lights hanging from the walls and twinkling in the dimmed light of the grand room. Each place was set with the finest silver cutlery and adorned with bold red plates. Up and down the table, seats awaited their guests to enjoy the five course meal, roses set in vases every few feet along the table.

At the head, a string quartet band played quietly so as not to disrupt the conversation and waiters kept wine glasses full, empty plates cleared, and worked to keep the mood high. As the sun began to set, the dinner began to be served.

A large, decorative sign situated prominantly in the lobby reads:

The Nexus Hotel
proudly presents its
ANNUAL NEW YEARS EVE PARTY

Event Location
Nexus Premises
6 PM - ?

1920's themed dress recommended, but not required for all guests

The sumptuous theme of elegance that typically surrounds the Nexus Hotel is out in full force on the evening of the 31st. With efficiency and very little said, a group had entered and snapped white tablecloths on long tables in the main lobby of the hotel, turning side-rooms into similar displays of elegance. Then came the food, followed by the alcohol, and the guests were quick to follow.

Drinks were on the lawn, in the hotel, making their way into the hands of party-goers who wore shining, shimmering, jewelled gowns of all eras, but only those from the 1920’s hung on a rack in the luggage room where hotel guests entered to check in and found themselves amidst a welcoming committee like none before.

In the skies between the hotel and the stars, fireworks shot off in hourly intervals, sparkling and accompanied by a great bang that the music from the band does its’ best to drown out (to no avail). And under those shimmering lights, the party for New Years Eve roared. It was not the only party, though, as a door had been propped open that led directly to the shining lights of Las Vegas, the gleaming neon of the strip beckoning any guests daring enough to try their hand at games of chance and luck.

His brief stint at the Halloween party had done nothing for Ollie but remind him that he really didn't want to be around people. The other inhabitants of the hotel seem (mostly) harmless enough, from what he's observed, but socializing doesn't have any appeal at all.

Unfortunately, his room doesn't carry much appeal, either. The constant changes -- which are just as strange as the skies outside -- at least have a pattern that he's been able to discern. Four nights of his bedroom at home, two nights of the wreck on the island. The wreck feels more like home than his bedroom does. His room is too neat, too familiar, and it has too many memories covering every square inch of it.

(There, where Ollie first admitted to being with Laurel. There, where they wrestled and he sprained his wrist. There, where they got ready to celebrate graduation. There where they-- and there, when he laughed about-- and there-- he's everywhere, and it cuts.)

It's a bedroom day, which means Ollie's wandering, looking for something to pass the time. Being outside and looking up at the sky still makes his stomach turn, so he usually waits until dusk for his daily run. After that, it's hitting the gym, and from there, it's a few laps in the pool.

Which is where Ollie is now, treading water in the deep end. It's quiet and warm, and if his mind goes wandering, he just sucks in a breath, pushes off the wall, and starts another ten laps.

ANNUAL HALLOWEEN GALA

Formal Reception
Nexus Dining Hall
6 PM - Midnight

Monster Mixer
Nexus Basement
8 PM - 2 AM

Masquerade attire recommended for all guests

Most of the chairs have been removed from the Dining Hall to allow for ballroom-style dancing to the orchestra set up on the far end of the room. A polished cherry wood open bar is aligned along one wall. The adjacent Bistro is open for the duration of the formal reception, serving gourmet hors d'oeuvres.

Downstairs, the basement's largest storeroom has been converted into a spooky nightclub, complete with DJ, dance floor and cocktails.

He still can't find a way out.

Only a few months have passed since Oliver got off that damn island, and here he is again, trapped on another. This one is dressed up a lot more and appeals to the part of him that appreciates a higher standard of living, but it's still an island, and he's still trapped.

(He'd wandered the grounds as far as he could go one of those first days, and the sight of what was out there was both awe inspiring and nauseating. Where the hell did he end up this time?)

At least no one is trying to kill him. Yet.

Four days have passed so far, just long enough for Ollie to pass confusion and frustration and go straight into anger. Nobody will talk to him or tell him anything - the staff just go about their day like nothing's wrong. He doesn't have his bow or his outfit, so he can't exactly try to threaten some answers out of anyone. And, worst of all, he's reached the limit of wearing the same clothes before he has to get them cleaned.

He's had worse outfits, but wearing a gift shop t-shirt (there is no reason Hawaiian shirts should exist), swim trunks, and rubber flip-flops as he's waiting for housekeeping to launder his outfit is about as demoralizing as it gets. He probably isn't dressed to code for The Smoking Room, but the bartender doesn't seem to care when Ollie orders a scotch and throws a fifty down. No credit, but at least he's still got a couple hundred left in his wallet before he has to start worrying about eating.

Food's the last thing on his mind, anyway. Oliver pulls his phone out of his pocket and turns it on, but still nothing. No calls in, no texts, no signal.

He's going to start kicking down every damn door in the hotel soon if nothing changes, and changes fast.

[OOC: Since he's in a t-shirt, a quick note on Ollie's scars.]
